Magis! Itulah kesan ketika David Cook membawakan lagu  'Always Be My Baby' di ajang American Idol. Lagu Mariah Carey yang sejatinya bernuansa sweet pop itu bernafaskan roh baru. Ada kepedihan menggeliat keluar dari dalam hatinya.

Petikan tunggal gitar Cook syahdu. Menyusul iringan orkestra saat meluncur ke chorus makin memegahkan lagu cinta itu. Seolah, itu pertama kalinya lagu tersebut terdengar. Cook membius penonton. Sebuah sajian sentimentil yang sulit dilupakan para penikmatnya. Pada titik itulah dunia tahu seorang penyanyi rock ballad telah lahir.

Publik Negara Paman Sam memilih David Cook sebagai jawara American Idol musim ketujuh. Debut album bersama major label pemuda 26 tahun itu dilempar ke publik November 2008 kemarin. Menandai debut karir profesionalnya setelah malang-melintang jadi pemusik band indie di Amerika sejak 1999. Bertajuk nama dirinya, 'David Cook', album tersebut adalah pencapaian Cook yang ditunggu seumur hidupnya. Inilah album yang mendefinisikan jati diri Cook.

Cook mengeluarkan ide-ide musikalnya yang kaya wawasan. Seorang musisi, yang tak hanya piawai bernyanyi. Tapi, menulis lagunya sendiri. Sepuluh dari 12 album lagu dalam album teranyarnya, adalah ciptaan sendiri. Sebuah endapan idealisme yang sempat terkubur. Dibuka dengan 'Declaration'. Sebuah lolongan parau seorang rocker. Mendengar 'Declaration', seolah mendengar Cook di puncak tertinggi bumi, dan mengumumkan kehendaknya pada dunia. Lewat permainan string section di awal, 'Declaration' jadi pembuka yang penuh energi dan emosi.

Lain lagi dengan 'Permanent' yang hadir hampir di penghujung album. Cook hanya perlu dua kali take vocal. 'Permanent' jadi lagu paling menguras air mata. Dalam situs resminya, Cook bercerita, "Aku harus meninggalkan satu titik, dimana itu begitu emosional. Sebagai musisi, Anda bisa menciptakan sesuatu yang sesuai isi kepala Anda." Sepuluh tahun Cook menulis lagu. Itu bukan waktu yang sebentar. Ada kejujuran selama proses rekaman yang semua kisahnya terluap pada lagu 'Permanent'.

Musisi kelahiran 20 Desember 1982 itu, punya cerita di setiap torehan karyanya. Seperti pada single “A Daily AntheM'. Sebuah track yang memuntahkan nuansa begitu indah. Kisah pedih berguling selaras dengan esensi liar melodi sang musisi. Sebuah raungan rock cerita pilu pria bernama Adam. Pria yang namanya diabadikan Cook lewat track 'A Daily AntheM' (huruf besar mewakili nama Adam ) itu adalah saudara laki-laki Cook yang terserang kanker otak.

David Cook memang bukan karakter rock pertama di American Idol. Nama Chris Daughtry jadi bayang-bayang Cook di mata publik. Beberapa bahkan menyebut nomor-nomor rock mellow medium menohoknya mirip karakter kelompok band 'Nickelback'. Ditambah timbre suara serupa dengan vokalis band asal Kanada itu, Chad Kroeger. Sepedas apapun komentar terlontar, itu tetap tak bisa membohongi telinga publik. Mereka cinta David Cook!

Kurang dari 24 jam setelah kemenangan Cook, single ini, beserta lagu-lagu lain yang ia nyanyikan di final American Idol menjadi lagu yang paling banyak diunduh di iTunes Amerika dan Kanada, menduduki peringkat 1, 2, 3, dan 4 berturut-turut di tangga lagu iTunes, mengalahkan lagu Rihanna, Natasha Bedingfield, Justin Timberlake, dan Madonna. Debut Album Cook ditangani oleh produser kawakan Rob Cavallo. Cavallo diantaranya sudah membidani kelompok band rock Green Day dan My Chemical Romance. Cavallo memoles suara serak Cook menjadi impresif, melodius. Bombastis di setiap hentakan chorus.

Satu yang gue suka dari hidup ini, saat apa yang gue mau dan apa yang sudah menjadi minat gue selama ini terkabul.

yaa, bener sekali. Senang rasanya kalau mendapatkan penghargaan atas apa yang kita suka dan apa yang baru kita tekuni.

Dunia tulis menulis sebenarnya udah menjadi incaran gue sejak lama, mengingat kecintaan gue akan membaca mendorong gue buat belajar menjadi apa yang gue cinta (penulis buku),

Dari mulai buku pelajaran, novel, komik dan apapun yang berbau tulisan yang menarik membuat mata dengan stand by menghadapi yang namanya buku :)

ini pula yang menjadikan gue berkeinginan untuk jadi penulis, walaupun itu hanya berkemungkinan beberapa persen dari realita yang ada.

Dan inilah hasil dari yang gue ingin, benar sekali jika ada keinginan pasti ada jalan melakukannya.

Juara III adalah awal dari karir dan keinginan gue dalam menekuni bidang blog, :)
